Thanks Jai. I did have my biggest lens on the camera but, had it decided to move towards me I probably would have looked like all three stooges, rolled into one, trying to get up and out of its way.

Thanks. My big lens gave me a bit of a safety zone and I guessed that it was non-venomous. If the snake had made a noise that even remotely sounded like a rattle, I would have been gone long before this shot happened. I think need to take a look at your photos...you sound much more brave than I.

The rattle snakes I have shot were always more intent on getting away from me than coming after me. But I still was not brave enough to lay down on the ground in front of one! Love the image. The tongue really adds a lot of interest for me!
